A quiet place for your feelings. If you need a hand, here are the answers to the questions people ask most — and a way to reach a real person.
Paper is a small, private space to keep or release how you feel. Save a moment and it becomes a light in your jar. Let one go and it drifts away. Write a letter to your future self and seal it until the day you choose.
There is no feed, no audience, and no one to perform for. It is only ever for you.
Paper has no accounts and no passwords. Instead, you have a recovery code — a private key shown under “Your key.” It is the only way to return to your jar if you switch phones or reinstall the app.
Please write it down somewhere safe. Because Paper keeps nothing about you on any server, we cannot recover this code for you if it is lost — we never had it in the first place. That is what keeps your words truly private.
Everything you write stays on your device. Paper has no servers, no accounts, no email sign-up, and no tracking. Nothing you write ever leaves your phone unless you choose to export it yourself.
That is why the app asks for nothing and remembers nothing about who you are.
If you’d like a copy you can keep, use Save backup in the app to download your jar as a file. Store it somewhere safe, and you can bring it back any time.
Paper is a quiet companion, not a substitute for professional mental health care. If you are struggling, please reach out to someone trained to help. You are not alone, and asking for help is a kind thing to do. You’ll find crisis lines inside the app, under “About Paper.”
Write to us — a real person reads every message, and we’ll do our best to help.
